Aftab Opel works for WaterAid Bangladesh as a Research Manager. He is a social anthropologist and has over 20 years of experience in the non-government development sector in Asia. He recently led the Bangladesh country study on landscape and business model analysis of faecal sludge management funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. His current research focus includes WaSHcost analysis,  exclusion in the WaSH sector, budget analysis and tracking and issue on sustainability of water and sanitation programmes.
